JamesX was the leader for the hike on the Boylston Rail Trail. On the hike we saw two box cars one standing on its side and one flat. We saw beautiful colorful trees. We also saw from the distance, a sand dune that was really high. It was a great day for the hike and we all made it back in time before the start of the rain.
September Court of Honor
September 26, 2016
Scouts arrived at the Community Barn at 6:30 to set up. Paul Noel and Ryan Gleason carried the flags to the front of the room. Melvin He and Michael Rodrique started the Court of Honor by saying a Prayer.
The Troop had a great hike yesterday, with 12 hardy scouts climbing Mount Wachusett and then going to check out the windmills on the southwest side of the reservation. At the summit, they coordinated an impromptu service project, and carried down 8 or 9 bags of trash.
There were some very tricky spots for them to traverse on the way, especially without microspikes, but they all did well.
They had a lot of fun checking out the windmills, and everyone was impressed with how big they actually are. One of the included images has Scoutmaster Paquin standing at the base – it’s a BIG windbill!
All scouts, old and new, were prepared for the hike, and no one complained at all, even though there were definitely a few tired scouts by the end! There was joking and laughing throughout – It was great to see such great scout spirit! They started hiking around 10, and 6 hours (and 7.25 miles) later, headed back to Grafton tired but happy.
I can’t wait to see what our Hikemaster has in store for us next month!
